Thanos Early Life

Life on Titan 

Thanos was born on planet Titan that was inhabited by a race of powerful, dynamic and dominant beings which were known to be "Titans".  Thanos had a deep love for his people as well as his home and fought to do anything possible in order to keep them alive and well. Over time, the planet was on the brink of collapse due to overpopulation. Like most planets, Titans simply had "too many mouths and not enough to go around". When the planet was faced with extinction, Thanos offered the solution of killing half of the population. He then further explained that it would be random, dispassionate fair to rich and poor alike. His people then called him a mad man and exiled him. However what he predicted came to pass which resulted in the extinction of all Titans leaving Thanos to be the last of his kind.

Birth of the Mad Titan

As a result of Titan's fall, Thanos formed the philosophy that extinction is the inevitable fate of the entire universe. He solemnly believed that the existence of  exponential population growth throughout the universe and the presence of limited and finite amount of resources would result in the destruction of all existence. In order to save other planets from Titan's fate, Thanos took it upon himself to become a world-conqueror and move throughout the universe while destroying half of the life on the planets he conquered all in the idea of restoring "balance" to the universe. 

In the picture above we can see their are two halves, one dead and the other executed. Thanos was able to control the armies of aliens which include the Chitauri, Sakaarans as well as Outriders in order to achieve this perfect "balance". Here we see him turn slowly evolve and become the Mad Titan whose name was known across the galaxy and was widely recognized as being one of if not the most powerful beings in the universe. 

The Black Order and his Children

Always looking to build his strength, Thanos would adopt orphans from planets that he had conquered. Four of his children who included, Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian and Proxima Midnight were trained to be fierce warriors and formed the Black Order(see picture below). The picture below is one of the first times we see Thanos from Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) onscreen and using the power stone. 

While on one of his conquests, Thanos met a young girl named Gamora who was fearlessly fighting off one of his soldiers. Fascinated by her sheer bravery and courage he asked her to follow him and decided to raise her as his own. The difference between Gamora and the others is that we see that Thanos grew to end up genuinely caring about her. Thanos also reveals that he always considered Gamora to be his successor and one day take up his mantel and sit on his throne.  Shortly after raising Gamora , Thanos adopted Nebula and raised her to be an assassin.
